Moving Pieces

There are two ways how you can move pieces in Fanorona:
• Capturing moves
• Non-capturing moves (Paikas)

A piece can move one space only along the lines of the board, either straight or diagonally. Pieces can only move onto empty spaces and they cannot land on top of another piece or skip them. You can only make diagonal moves along the diagonal lines shown on the board.

Whenever you are about to make a move, you must make a capturing move if you can. You can read about capturing pieces and moves here. The GIF above shows moving on the board using non-capturing moves.
